Mark Mathias - Owner
Mark Mathias started Texas Hot Rods in 2001 out of his garage in Converse, TX. Over the
years Mark has gained experience working for other shops around San
Antonio, TX. He gained experience in Air Conditioning Systems in
the 18 months that he worked for Vintage Air on the Cool 200 project, a
land speed record holding 1953 Studebaker. He has since had a
great relationship with Vintage Air using them for several of his
builds. Mark's electrical experience was obtain at Texas Industrial Electric. His experience in engine
performance came from his 3 years that he spent working for Performance
Engineering and Corvette Classics. Mark has since upgraded from
building cars out of his garage and into his own shop in
San Antonio.
Mark doesn't just build performance and classic
cars, he also races in the Super Stock Nascar Series. In 2008 Mark
won the Track Championship and was the Rookie of the Year for that
series.
In 2014 Texas Hot Rod's By Mark Mathias took
first place for Larry's 71 Vette and Larry's 74 Trans Am in their
catagory in 2014's San Antonio's Auto Rama Car and Motorcycle Show.
It also to 2nd Place in its catagory and took home "Best in Show" in
another catagory at the same show for Jimmy's 69 Camaro. Both
Jimmy and Larry would go on to win in 2015 at Ancira-Winton Chevrolet's
Car Show. Jimmy took 1st Place in "First Gen Camaro" and "Best of
Show". Larry took 1st Place in "C1-3 Corvettes" and 1st Place in
"TransAm" Catagories.
